Mohamad Hanafi graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2007 with double degrees in LL.B (Hons) and LL.B-S (Hons), and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 15 October 2008.
He completed his pupillage with Messrs Zulpadli & Edham and, owing to his strong interest in litigation and extensive exposure to both conventional and Islamic banking matters, was retained by the firm as a Legal Assistant to further develop his expertise. In January 2016, he was admitted as a Partner and currently leads the Banking Litigation Department.

Debt recovery for Islamic financial institutions involving Bai’ Bithaman Ajil, Bai’ Al-Inah, Al-Ijarah Thumma Al-Bay’ (AITAB), Tawarruq, Ijarah Muntahiyyah Bittamlik, Musyarakah Mutanaqisah, Mudharabah & Revolving Mudharabah, Istisna’, Qardhul Hassan, and Trade Line Commodity structures. - Advisory & Transactional Support
Advising financial institutions on contentious and non-contentious matters, including commercial and consumer financing, hire purchase, and property-related transactions. - Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Handling cases before the High Court and Land Office, including foreclosure proceedings, private auctions, post-auction procedures, and interlocutory applications such as summary judgment, striking out, transfer of proceedings, stay applications, and appeals in banking disputes. - Execution Proceedings
Managing bankruptcy, winding-up, garnishee orders, judgment debtor summons, writs of seizure and sale, writs of distress, and repossession orders. - Trials & Hearings
Conducting full trials in negligence suits against financial institutions involving wrongful auction, breach of undertaking, limitation, and res judicata, as well as hearings in committal proceedings. - Probate & Insurance
Acting in probate and letters of administration cases, and providing legal opinions on insurance disputes, including vehicle theft claims.
Together with Partner Azizul Ashraf, he has also served as a co-presenter with Senior Partner, En. Ashmadi Othman, in legal talks for banks and cooperatives, reflecting his role in supporting client engagement and knowledge sharing.
